Arsenal in talks with Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa

Arsenal are pushing to close a deal for Real Madrid full back Alvaro Arbeloa on deadline day.

The Gunners are short in numbers and experience at the back and boss Arsene Wenger has identified out-of-favor Spain defender Arbeloa.

Arbeloa has fallen out of favor at Madrid and wants a return to England to play for Arsenal.

According to El Confidencial, the fullback is in talks with the Gunners and could very well join the London club on a minimal fee suggested to be around the £6 million mark.

The 31-year-old was at Liverpool for three seasons before moving to join Los Blancos in 2009. He has made close to 200 appearances for Madrid and has won one league title, one Champions League and two Copa del Rey titles.
