Two of the most experienced and devastating weopons in Australia’s cricketing arsenal, Brett Lee and Shane Watson will be returning home on account of calf string injuries suffered during the humiliating eight wicket loss to England at Durham. As a result of which both were forced to leave the field barely finishing one over of their bowling.
It is hoped that this return home will help them from recover from their injuries but this has lead to serious doubts on their ability to be ready for the Australian-Pakistan series due in August.
Watson’s injuries on his left leg may compound the issues which he had with his right leg (calf and hamstring) which forced him out of action a significant time last year. This may further add pressure on him owing to the demands of the All rounder role he is expected to perform but where there is a mismatch between his bowling and batting. Watson still has to find an optimal balance between both.
Lee’s injuries added to his age (35) will challenge him even more to perform, though he has been a consistent performer.
