ESPY Awards 2013: Novak Djokovic, LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Serena Williams bag trophies

The ESPY Awards 2013 were held at Los Angeles on Wednesday hosted and were chosen by fans through voting. Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and America’s Serena Williams won the ESPY Awards for the best male tennis player and the best female tennis player respectively. LeBron James succeeded in achieving three trophies along with Golf Champion, Tiger Woods.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was nominated for Best Male Tennis Player and Best International Athlete. Djokovic won the Best Male Tennis Player trophy but the best International Athlete was taken away by Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt.

Women’s World No. 1 Serena Williams won the award for the best female tennis player, giving her eight career ESPYs. She also won the best female athlete award.

American professional golfer, Tiger Woods won the award for the best male golfer at the ESPY Awards 2013. Currently the World No. 1, he has been one of the highest-paid athletes in the world for several years according to Forbes.

The spotlight of the show was Miami Heat’s basketball player LeBron James who took home three ESPY Awards. The professional basketball player, ‘King James’ won the awards for the following categories: Best male athlete, best championship performance and best NBA player.

Andy Murray had a nomination for the best moment followed by a best male tennis player nominee, however the Brit could not win either of them.
