F1 Bahrain: Rain in the Desert

The controversial Bahrain race just got a little more weard. A number of F1 twitters are reporting that there was rain this morning in Bahrain:

As predicted has just started raining and quite heavy with some thunder about.

Most showers predicted to be light but maybe some short heavier ones in the next 30 mins, going to be interesting…

Some rain falling at the circuit in the desert!  ‘s rain dance has worked afterall!

The weather is a bit strange today with a few drops of rain now and then.  and  are about to return from the drivers parade.
It is not expected that this will actually warrant the use of intermediate tires. It is unclear, however, if Pirelli even supplied such tires for the race in the desert.
Another Sunday morning update is that Michael Schumacher needed a new (unscheduled) gear box. This means that Michael’s weekend just got from bad to worse. He could not progress to Q2 yesterday and now the gear box change means that he will get a five-place grid penalty. Michael will, therefore, start either at P22 or from the pit lane.
Come back for our race review later today. Despite the political controversy, the Bahrain race weekend seems to be quite exciting on the track.
