GQ Magazine lists Federer, Murray, Berdych as stylish athletes

Tennis stars Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych were named amongst the most stylish athletes of 2013 by the GQ Magazine.

32-year old Roger Federer was ranked no. 7 on the list where as Wimbledon champion, Andy Murray was 18 followed by Tomas Berdych at No. 20.

“’Grand Slam’” is a title that could just as easily be applied to Federer’s off-court style as the tennis ace’s graceful moves on clay or grass extend to the red carpet as well.

Federer favors subdued colors and simple menswear mixes, usually anchored by a crisp white shirt, and the timeless kits are what separate him from athlete pack. Even his white Nike-sponsored uniform, with interlocking gold initials, looks more like luxury menswear than any performance piece in play,” GQ magazine wrote about the seventeen-time Grand Slam champion who has amazed the world with his refined style of play coupled with graceful sense of styling.

As GQ introduced the top 20 most stylish athletes, it wrote: “…there’s now a full-blown style revolution happening in the world of sports. The resulting crop of sharp-suited athletes are challenging even the savviest Hollywood A-listers and sidewalk peacocks for the title of best-dressed celebrities on the planet. Here, we present 20 ballers who constitute the cream of the crop.”

The list was topped by Miami Heat Star’s sensational player, LeBron James.

About the British tennis player who won his first ever Wimbledon crown this summer GQ wrote, “Murray proved himself a pro by lending a sense of cool to a sport that once seemed all too classist. After reclaiming Wimbledon in the name of the Kingdom, he went on to further victory in trim fitting suits and narrow ties. With his ever-present stubble and tousled just-so hair, he may not be the most refined guy on the court, but this is what makes him stand out from the manufactured handsomeness of his competitors.”
