Manchester United have struck an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign their defensive midfielder William Carvalho.
According to the Daily Mirror, The 21-year-old has a £37.5 million buyout clause in his contract and the Portugal club are happy to let the Portugal international leave in the summer after lining up a replacement.
United will now hope to negotiate a smaller transfer fee for the Angola born midfielder. The midfielder spent one-and-a-half season at Belgian club Cercle Brugge on loan from Sporting, and has four years remaining on his current deal.
Carvalho has been scouted by United a dozen times this season, and the English champions want to sign the promising youngster to boost their midfield for next season.
Sporting have already found Carvalho's replacement and have set up a deal to sign Goncalo from Estorial for £410,000 in the summer.
Carvalho has won one cap for Portugal and has represented the country in all junior levels. The 6ft 1in midfielder also has a chance to represent his country in this summer's FIFA World Cup in Brazil if he continues his fine performances for Lisbon.
William has made 18 league appearances for Lisbon this season and the club are currently in third place in the Primeira Liga.
